On Monday, 23 December, the Art Centre – under the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities – hosted the opening of a joint exhibition by the Bahrain Arts Society and the Kuwait Arts Association. The event was attended by His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain’s National Council for Arts and Honorary President of the Bahrain Arts Society; Shaikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Arts Society; and Abdulrasool Salman, President of the Kuwait Arts Association, along with a number of artists from the two friendly countries.
The exhibition features works by 46 artists from Bahrain and Kuwait, showcasing a diverse range of artistic styles that reflect the vibrancy of the artistic scenes in both countries. It highlights innovative pieces across various media, including painting, photography, and sculpture, offering a deep exploration of the cultural identity and heritage of the Gulf region. The displayed artworks capture different facets of life in the Gulf, from the environment, which is central to the region's identity, to the celebration of intangible cultural heritage, such as traditional crafts, costume, and architecture. By blending contemporary techniques with traditional themes, the artists create a harmonious fusion of modernity and heritage.
Additionally, the Art Centre will host an open dialogue titled “Art Clusters in the Region” on Tuesday, 24 December, at 7 PM. The event will feature Abdulrasool Salman, President of the Kuwait Arts Association, alongside artists Yousif Ahmed and Ali Almahmeed, and will be moderated by S. Hasan Alsari.
This joint exhibition, organised by the Bahrain Arts Society, aims to further strengthen ties of cooperation and foster cultural exchange in the arts scene between Bahrain and Kuwait. It continues the long history of collaboration between the two countries, with the most recent being a joint exhibition held in Kuwait in February 2024. The exhibition also serves as a platform for artists from both countries to showcase their work and share their artistic visions. It highlights the commonalities and diversity within the Gulf’s artistic landscape, encouraging mutual understanding and dialogue.
The exhibition will be open to the public until 31 December at the Art Centre, daily from 9 AM to 8 PM.
