The 19th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival continues to enrich the cultural scene throughout February, offering an exciting array of performances and events. Starting with the Cultural Hall as it hosted the Breeze of Tarantella concert, a vibrant music and dance show presented in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Bahrain. This performance took the audience on a captivating journey through the musical heritage of southern Italy, particularly from the Puglia region.
In collaboration with the French Embassy in Bahrain, the Bahrain National Museum hosted a memorable performance by Kid Francescoli, delivering a lively and joyful evening of music influenced by his Middle Eastern roots.
The festival also witnessed the return of Pianotainment, in collaboration with the German Embassy in Bahrain. Renowned pianists Stephan Weh and Marcel Dorn gave a performance filled with humour, creativity, and exceptional musical talent, creating a delightful experience for the audience.
In Riffa, the festival showcased an evening of traditional folklore, presented by Dar Al Riffa Al Sagheera Band. The band performed traditional Bahraini folk arts, including Al Majilsi, Al Ashouri, and Al Marowba. Meanwhile, the Bahrain National Museum hosted an interactive tour, allowing the public to explore the region's rich architectural and cultural heritage.
As for upcoming events within the Spring of Culture Festival, the public can look forward to a unique artistic event by artists Camille Zakharia and Ali Karimi on Friday, 7 February. Titled Photos à la Chair, this event combines art and community in a three-hour group photography session at various public locations.
Bahraini folk bands continue to be a key part of the festival. On Saturday, 8 February, Qalali Folk Band will perform at Dar Al Muharraq, bringing the traditional art of Al Fjiri to life. Later, on 10 and 17 February, Dar Bin Harban will perform at the venue, showcasing the art of Al Khammari, Al Ashouri, and Al Basta. Additionally, Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre will hold a traditional Cypriot embroidery workshop, Lefkaritiko, at the House of Basket Weaving on 10 and 11 February, from 4 to 6 PM.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre, Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, in association with Albareh Art Space, Al Riwaq Art Space, Art Concept Gallery, Folk Art Space, La Fontaine Centre for Contemporary Art, and RAK Art Foundation.
This 19th edition is strategically sponsored by the Economic Development Board, with gold sponsorship from the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) and Labour Fund (Tamkeen), and silver sponsorship from Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) and National Bank of Bahrain (NBB).
Additionally, several embassies in Bahrain contribute to the festival’s program, such as the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Cyprus, and the Philippines.
