Manama hosted the launch of the cultural program From the Post today, Saturday, 1 February 2025, in the presence of His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (additional attendees will be mentioned on the day of). Held as part of the 19th Spring of Culture Festival, From the Post takes place every Saturday throughout February.
On this occasion, His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stated, "From the Post is our annual initiative to celebrate Manama, a symbol of coexistence, diversity, and cultural richness." He added, "This year, we delve into Manama’s history and heritage, exploring what has made it an economic, social, and cultural hub over the decades. Through a variety of activities, we invite the public to rediscover the city in a unique and engaging way."
His Excellency also expressed his gratitude to the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence for its collaboration in the first week of From the Post, emphasising the centre’s crucial role in promoting Manama and Bahrain’s global standing in cultural and interfaith dialogue.
Saturday’s events unfolded under the theme Connections of Manama. The day began with the Manama for All tour, which explored significant religious landmarks across the city. Bahraini artists participated in Live Outdoor Painting: Manama Canvas, capturing their artistic interpretations of the coexistence and cultural harmony that define both Bahrain and its capital, Manama. In the evening, visitors joined a photography tour at Minaret Al Fadhel, followed by an engaging panel discussion titled Interfaith Dialogue, hosted on Bab Al Bahrain’s balcony and led by Yousif Salahuddin. During the session, Salahuddin shared his personal memories of religious harmony in Bahrain, reflecting on Manama as a model of a diverse and unified society. The day concluded with a captivating performance of traditional folklore by Ismaeel Dawas Band, reviving some of Bahrain’s most cherished musical traditions.
Aiming to strengthen the public’s connection with Manama’s rich cultural heritage, From the Post invites audiences to rediscover the city’s history, markets, old neighbourhoods, arts, and architecture. Each week of the program carries a theme that shapes its activities, which range from guided tours and photography sessions to artistic experiences and panel discussions. The first week is titled Connections of Manama, followed by Administration of Manama, then Commerce of Manama, and concluding with Architecture of Manama.
This year, the Post Office balcony will also host Arena Café, welcoming visitors throughout the festival. The café will be open from Sunday to Wednesday between 9 AM and 6 PM, and from Thursday to Saturday between 9 AM and 9 PM.
