The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is inviting volunteers to participate in the third edition of the Muharraq Nights Festival, taking place from 5-30 December 2024. This year’s Muharraq Nights Festival will be held along the Pearling Path, starting from Bu Mahir’s Coast to the Pearl Museum - Majlis Siyadi.
The festival is a celebration of art, design, fashion, crafts, music, food, activities and tours, taking place across the historic neighbourhoods of the city of Muharraq. The festival will present a rich blend of creative and interactive events and activities.
Volunteers are integral to the success of all Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities events, and their passion, energy and knowledge are to be the pulse of the Muharraq Nights Festival!
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Respect and Professionalism:
• Treat all visitors, staff, and fellow volunteers with the utmost respect, kindness, and professionalism.
• Always reflect Bahrain’s hospitality and culture through courteous and respectful behaviour.
Attendance and Discipline:
• Be punctual for all scheduled shifts and meetings, showing reliability and dedication to the festival
• Inform the volunteer coordinator as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your scheduled shift.
Flexibility and Adaptability
• Be prepared to take on a variety of tasks and adapt to changing needs during the festival.
• Show willingness to assist wherever needed to ensure the event's success.
Dress Code:
• Follow the dress code provided by the festival team, ensuring your attire is culturally appropriate and professional.
Safety and Security:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures as outlined by the festival organizers.
• Immediately report any safety concerns or incidents to supervisors to maintain a secure environment for everyone.
Communication:
• Maintain clear, open communication with the volunteer coordinator and team members to ensure smooth festival operations.
• Promptly report any issues, concerns, or suggestions to improve the visitor experience.
Orientation and Training:
• Attend all required orientation and training sessions to fully understand the festival’s goals, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure you are equipped with the knowledge to assist visitors and handle your tasks effectively.
Visitor Assistance:
• Provide accurate, helpful information to visitors about the festival’s events, locations, and activities.
• Be a welcoming presence, guiding visitors to various attractions and ensuring they have a memorable experience.
Program Support:
• Assist staff with key operational tasks such as registration, managing crowd flow, and facilitating activities.
• Contribute to the smooth execution of the festival’s daily events.
Exhibit and Facility Maintenance:
• Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of festival areas and exhibit spaces.
• Monitor the event site and report any issues to ensure a pleasant environment for visitors.
Promotion and Outreach:
• Engage with visitors and help promote the festival’s programs and activities, sharing Muharraq’s rich history and culture.
• Participate in outreach efforts to raise awareness and attract more attendees to the festival.
Feedback and Improvement:
• Provide constructive feedback to supervisors to help enhance future editions of the festival and improve the visitor experience.
Conduct and Ethics:
• Carry out all tasks with honesty, integrity, and dedication to the success of the festival.
• Avoid any conflicts of interest and immediately report any concerns to the volunteer coordinator.
Teamwork:
• Work collaboratively with fellow volunteers and festival staff, fostering a supportive and positive team atmosphere.
• Contribute to creating a cooperative and enjoyable working environment.
Positive Representation:
• Represent the festival and Muharraq in a positive, welcoming manner, both during the event and outside the work environment.
• Avoid any actions or statements that could harm the reputation of the festival or the community.
Submissions:
The application form is to be completed online on www.culture.gov.bh.
Submissions must include:
• Updated resume.
• Copy of ID card.
The deadline to submit is 10 November 2024, 11:59 p.m. (Bahrain Local Time).
Terms and Conditions:
1. Submissions are open to all citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
2. Volunteers must be fluent in Arabic and English language.
3. Volunteers must be aged between 18 – 30 years.
4. Each applicant has the right to apply once only.
5. The acceptance of volunteers is not guaranteed. The committee will review the applications and has the right to accept or reject the submissions.
6. Participants acknowledge acceptance is a multistep process. The committee will contact those accepted in the first phase for further debriefing via an interview.
