Under the patronage of his Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa AlKhalifa, it is our privilege to launch Bahrain’s 25th Annual Heritage Festival. This festival has become an internationally recognized celebration bringing the nation’s unique culture and heritage to the forefront of our society, a reminder to our people and all people of where this great and modern nation came from, helping to preserve our customs for future generations.

Located by the historic Bahrain Fort (Qala’t al-Bahrain), the heritage festival will recreate a glimpse of the variety and diversity of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s heritage. The festival will paint a memory to be cherished and a chance for locals, residents, and visitors to experience the Island’s rich history, music, food, as well as provide close contact with the artisans whose contributions have played a role in shaping our national identity.

As with every Heritage Festival, this year will be unique, focusing on the particular theme of Bahrain’s natural “Springs’ Tales”, a play on words for our Arabic speaking audience that we invite you to explore. The Festival takes its inspiration from those Springs and their part in our history all over our beautiful Kingdom and the tales those springs would have told had they been able to speak. This theme over those eleven days is in line with our 2017 theme of the stories our artifacts hold if only we would listen and it aims to creatively and artistically present you with some of those Tales through installations, photo exhibition, and videos. It will also present you with crafts, creative cultural businesses that have capitalized on our heritage, local and traditional musicians, as well as something fun for your little ones. With Qala’t al-Bahrain as a backdrop to this Festival serving as a jewel at the center of this reminder of our past there should be fun and education as well as a touch on all our souls and the soul of the place.
