Spring Waters Collage (9-12 Years)

Children will have the opportunity to show and express their creative minds, world, and dreams by painting water springs, using collage art. Small, unexpected different pieces will be given a special shape tuning into natural water springs with a marvelous artistic touch molded by children through sticking various different materials onto a canvas.

Shape Metal Wire (9-12 Years)

What can a metal wire turn into? Wire is perfect for making three-dimensional linear form and children will show us what creations they will come up with during this Heritage Festival workshop. Lovey little ones will try to create different shapes by winding wires made of metal.

Color my painting with salt (9-12 Years)

White canvas papers, salt, glue and colors; these are simple and basic ingredients for kids to experiment. The secret of this workshop lies in how to turn this invisible creation into a gorgeous art
work by spreading out salt particles and coloring them.

Decorating Alheb (9-12 Years)

Alheb (water container traditionally used for keeping and cooling water) can have other esthetic functions and characteristics in our modern time. Through this workshop, children will discover water
cooling techniques used before electricity, and their functional relationships with water springs. Alheb pottery containers will revisited in a creative artistic way by painting on them and turning them
into a beautiful work of art to serve as an original souvenirs piece or a unique home décor element.

Shells pencil holder (6-8 Years)

Kurar embroidery produces beautiful ribbons of gold zeri, silver zeri and briesam, which are made by hand and used to decorate clothing. It is the result of a group effort in which the width of the final product depends on the number of women involved in the process. The Qataba sits opposite her partner, who assume the role of the Doakhil, holding and weaving several strands at a time while the Qataba guides the process and attaches the ribbon as it forms directly onto garments. While the popular kurar zeri makes an appearance in many different styles of thoub, the breisam version is reserved exclusively for men’s clothing.

The SAB fish (6-8 Years)

Bahrain’s identity has always been closely tied to palm trees. As a source of food and shelter, the palm tree has always been an indispensable element in the lives of Bahrainis. In an initiative to reinterpret the use of palm leaves, Children & Mothers Welfare Society encourages the Palm Paper Workshop involved in making handmade papers, cards, notebooks and illustrations.

Springs between my hands (9-12 Years)

Still used as a decorative element in many houses, traditional chests known as Sanadeeg Mubayata,
also serve as storage for clothing and personal items. It’s appearance is distinguished by nail heads hammered into various decorative fashions. These chests are made out of real wood and are often used to present the bride with her trousseau. Storing zeri in a dark area, when not in use, helps maintain its shine and appearance. Today, several traditional chest designs have been reinterpreted and now incorporate a variety of colors.

Light of spring waters (9-12 Years)

Music went hand-in-hand with the longstanding pearling heritage of Bahrain, as divers used song, dance, and music to pass time aboard the dhows in their long voyages at sea. As such, the country boasts a wide range of traditional instruments, which can be viewed and purchased in this shop.

Adhri spring water (9-12 Years)

Throughout history, Ain Adhari, is a natural water spring that has always been a famous and legendary site that attracted many people to the island of Bahrain. Through this workshop, the history of Ain Adhari will be restored and kids will learn more of our history and create a beautiful painting of Ain Adhari.
